Dr. Michael Snopkowski

Superintendent Eastern Lancaster County School District

Dr. Snopkowski comes to the Eastern Lancaster County School District with a career spent educating and serving students and their communities.  Originally from Western New York, Dr. Snopkowski attended Ohio University and double-majored in Business and Education while also playing for the baseball team all four years.  Selected captain his senior year, he earned an NCAA post-graduate scholarship based on his academic and athletic performance as well as his community service at Ohio University.  After teaching for a year in Wellsville, NY, he moved to southeastern Pennsylvania to take a teaching position at Penncrest High School in Media.  While teaching and coaching, he completed his Masters of Science in Administration at West Chester University. Dr. Snopkowski earned his first position in administration when he was named athletic director for the Rose Tree Media School District in 2000.  His next major change occurred when he accepted a position as a high school assistant principal in the Avon Grove School District in 2005.
 

Dr. Snopkowski continued his pursuit of higher education through the University of Delaware and earned his Educational Doctorate in Administration and Policy in 2009.  Earlier that year he was promoted to principal of Fred S. Engle Middle School and served for more than five years in that role until moving into a district-level position as the Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning, also in Avon Grove.  Responsible for all secondary learners in coordination with the elementary team, areas of influence included not only instruction and curricular-related areas, but also budgeting, hiring, and facilities upgrades.  In 2019, Dr. Snopkowski was commissioned as Assistant Superintendent in the Avon Grove School District.  
 

Dr. Snopkowski was appointed Superintendent for ELANCO in December, 2021 and officially started in his role in February of 2022.  He brings with him a belief in the value of education for all learners and the responsibility of all members of the ELANCO school district to work together to help each learner become their best.
