Flat Stanley Project | Fall 2014
Alice Snader, Blue Ball Elementary
6th grade students at Blue Ball Elementary shared a unique cultural peer collaboration through the Flat Stanley Project. Blue Ball students and students from Ukraine, Romania, Lebanon, and Israel created “Flats” (Flat Stanley or Stacy) on iPads or by using assorted art materials. The students in each art class learned about the culture of another country by corresponding with partners to answer questions on Edmodo, an online collaborative learning management system. Each student took photographs of their Flat Stanley or Stacy in an interesting location and then shared the experience on Edmodo. Every BBES student wrote a dairy page to send back with their Flats. To summarize the learning, each class shared facts they learned about their country with photos on Mrs. Snader’s 6th grade Edublog page.
